Late. Panth Ratan Shiromani Sardar Joga Singh Ji, Founder President SNJSF Bidar

S. Joga Singhji was born on 26th December 1934. He got his education in the field of Commerce from Osmania University of Hyderabad. At the tender age of 20, he started participating in business along with his father Panth Bhushan Bishan Singhji and became class-A contractor in the erstwhile Hyderabad State and Karnataka. He also started taking keen part in social works. In the year 1954 he started taking keen interest in the social and educational spheres. In same year (1954) he became the Member of Governing Council of Gulbarga Engineering College and Medical College run by Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society & he remained so till 1975.

Further S. Joga Singh was made the Member of “Just & Fair” committee for maintaining Peace and integrity of the country, which was published in “Hindustan Times” on 18th June 1986.

S. Joga Singh was conferred with “Shiromani” Award by the then Hon’ble Vice-President of India Sri Shanker Dayal Sharma, on 30th December 1987. In 1962, he became the Life Member of Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society. For three years i.e. from 1983 to 1985 he was nominated as Member of the academic Committee by Sri Govind Narayan, Governor of Karnataka. He was an active member of the Sikh Education Society, Hyderabad. After the demise of his father S. Bishan Singhji. S. Joga Singhji was elected President of Gurdwara Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb, Bidar Gurdwara Mai Bhagoji Janwada on 28th March 1967 and while doing his best for the betterment of Gurdwara Management, he also served in the social and educational spheres. In 1969 he established Guru Nanak Hospital. In 1975 Guru Nanak Public School, Bidar was founded and in 1978 Guru Nanak Public School, Hyderabad was brought into existence, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College was started in 1980. Which got the world wide popularity in the field of Technical education. Similarly Guru Nanak Dev Polytechnic and Guru Nanak Junior College were started in 1986 and 1988 for the benefit of the Public in General.

He got several Lakh of rupees sanctioned from Gurdwara Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb, Bidar to Sikh Education Society, Hyderabad to start Guru Nanak School at Sikh Chawni R.R. Dist., for imparting quality education to the children of all communities in general and the Sikhs in particular. He got permission to start a School of Nursing at Sikh Chawni R.R. District for strengthening and establishing the Sikh Education Society. He also made untiring efforts to establish a Medical College at Bidar.

On the fateful night of 30th March 1989 at 9:00 PM he was assassinated at his residence in Hyderabad. The loss caused to the Panth by his untimely demise will never be compensated. His life that brimmed with social and educational activities will serve the purpose of a Light House for the coming generation.

After the demise of Panth Bhushan S. Bishan Singhji his dynamic Son Sardar Joga Singhji, who was fully capable of shouldering all responsibilities of Presidentship, was unanimously elected as the President of Gurdwara Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb, Bidar by the congregation assembled on the eve of Holla Mahalla festival in 1967.

Apart from performing the duties of Presidentship S. Joga Singhji, had taken keen interest in educational field with a view to spread the light of education among the Sikhs in particular and the people in general. In a very short span of time the following Education Institutions were established in this backward area.

3. Guru Nanak School, Hyderabad in 1977

4. Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar in 1980

Dr.Sardar Balbir Singh

Dr. S. Balbir Singh, son of the late Panth Ratan Shiromani Sardar Joga Singh ji, stands as a dynamic and enterprising individual, widely recognized as an exceptional educationist and dedicated philanthropist within the Bidar district. His remarkable contributions have earned him the prestigious “Kannada Rajyotsava Award – 2022” from the Government of Karnataka. This award celebrates his

exceptional contributions to the realm of Social  Service.

At the helm of Gurdwara Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb, Bidar, Dr. S. Balbir Singh serves as the president, demonstrating his commitment to both religious and community service. Moreover, his leadership extends to the Guru Nanak Group of Institutions, functioning under the auspices of the Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb Foundation in Bidar.

In his professional capacity, Dr. S. Balbir Singh excels as a Class-I P.W.D. & M.E.S. Contractor, boasting years of experience in the Civil Construction sector. His portfolio includes the successful execution of major building and road projects in and around Bidar, including substantial contributions to the Civil construction at the Air Force Station in Bidar and Bangalore.

Dr. S. Balbir Singh’s personal demeanor is characterized by popularity, soft-spoken words, and a compassionate heart. He extends his support to the underprivileged through financial assistance and employment opportunities. His benevolence is evident in his willingness to generously contribute donations and offer jobs within his Institutions or Contract Firms. This kind-hearted nature transcends into his contributions to religious institutions, where he not only donates but also provides valuable suggestions.
A pivotal figure in Bidar’s economic progress, Dr. S. Balbir Singh played a crucial role in securing Central Government funds amounting to Rs. 150.00 Crores for Bidar’s development, commemorating the 300-year anniversary of the formation of the Khalsa Panth (Sikh Community) in 2008. These funds were instrumental in enhancing Bidar’s infrastructure, including road widening and sanitation facilities, along with the establishment of Outer Ring Roads.

As the President of the Guru Nanak Group of Institutions, Dr. S. Balbir Singh’s dedication to delivering quality education to Bidar’s populace shines. With over 15,000 students enrolled in various educational establishments, his efforts bridge the education gap between urban and rural settings. Additionally, his initiatives generate direct and indirect employment opportunities, benefiting approximately 2000 people in Bidar.

Dr. S. Balbir Singh’s personal interaction with his employees fosters a cohesive work environment, where staff members feel secure and valued. His altruistic pursuit of offering top-tier education has elevated Bidar’s status as an educational hub.

As the Chairman of Guru Nanak Hospital in Bidar, Dr. S. Balbir Singh’s transformative impact is evident in the hospital’s infrastructure and superior medical facilities. Notably, the hospital serves the underprivileged with affordable medical care, maintaining impeccable hygiene standards.
Despite hailing from affluence, Dr. S. Balbir Singh remains ceaselessly active, participating wholeheartedly in Bidar City’s social activities. His day typically spans from 9.00 AM to 9.00 PM, engaging with individuals from all walks of life, including employees and students.

His amiable nature transcends social and administrative boundaries, fostering strong relationships across diverse communities. Dr. S. Balbir Singh’s unassuming and gracious demeanor, combined with his reputation for steering clear of controversy, has made him a widely respected and beloved figure in Bidar and beyond.

Dr.Reshma Kaur

Dr. Reshma Kaur, Vice Chairperson of Guru Nanak Group of Institutions, Bidar, is widely recognised for her remarkable administrative skills in establishing and enhancing educational institutions to remarkable standards. With a combination of strategic acumen and practicality, she stands as an exemplar educator with a strong emphasis on quality education. Her educational background spans commerce, law, and management, showcasing her versatility and expertise. Dr. Kaur’s ascent to prominence is attributed to her innate talents, unwavering commitment, enthusiasm, and visionary approach to addressing the educational needs of the socially and economically underprivileged district of Bidar.

As a key member and Life Trustee of Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb Foundation, Bidar, and Vice-Chairperson of Guru Nanak Group of Educational Institutions, she has overseen the growth of 18 educational institutions that are rendering a significant impact on Bidar’s educational, social and cultural landscape. Her involvement dates back to 1998, driven by her dedication to elevating academic standards and establishing contemporary institutions that cater to the unique needs of Bidar District. Notably, she undertakes these efforts without seeking any personal rewards. Dr. Reshma Kaur is a genuine educationist, continuously exploring innovative teaching methods to engage the younger generation. She instils in students the significance of shaping a ‘new’ world free from fear and conflict. Her approach is goal- driven, marked by persistence and a determination to direct her energy and resources towards achieving objectives. Her ethos is characterised by bravery, passion, integrity, and respect for individuals who share her values. She actively promotes cultural activities that celebrate national heritage, traditions, and values, fostering a sense of nationalism, cooperation, love, and compassion. Her unwavering dedication to work stems from her belief that “Work is Worship”. A strong advocate of teamwork, she involves all team members in decisionmaking and takes accountability for outcomes. She has played a pivotal role in establishing Guru Nanak Vruddha Ashram Sewa Sangh, Gurudwara, Bidar (Old Age Home) apart from other compassionate service to the society. Her efforts have earned her various accolades, including an Honorary Doctorate of Literature from Akkamahadevi Women’s University, Vijayapura, NALPAD “Women of Worth” Award, Abhinandan Award in recognition for rural social service, as well as various other institutional rankings.

Furthermore, Dr. Reshma Kaur holds roles in various institutions, spanning educational organisations, welfare associations, nursing colleges, and more. Her leadership role as a Syndicate member of Gulbarga University, Kalburgi, further highlights her diverse contributions.

In her pursuit of transforming society through quality education and promoting equality, Dr. Reshma Kaur is a beacon of inspiration and dedication.
